About the film - It portrays four Indigènes in a mobile corps with a reputation for endurance and courage. During close combat, these four are sent to the front line, each with a different personal purpose as they fight their way through the war to liberate France. As well as being successful as a war movie, the film's treatment of discrimination against French Africans -the French title translates as Natives- led to a change in government policy, although it remains an issue today.
