First Friday - French Art Reception with Carri CurrierEvery 1st Friday of month The Alliance Française participates in Santa Fe's Art Walk, exhibiting art from local artists with French influence. This November we are proud to present Carrie Currier.Carrie is fascinated with the quality of light in the landscape. A simple poppy backlit by the sun looks like a jewel in a garden. The misty light in Europe turns old buildings and fields into timeless visions. The Impressionists captured this quality of light and no subject was too mundane. The Southwest light with its’ cerulean skies and crayola sunsets is a delight to the artist’s eye. Anyone who has not visited the Southwest cannot believe that Georgia O’Keefe was actually painting what she saw. Over the years she has enjoyed painting while on location and believe you don’t really experience a place or subject until you’ve rendered it. I’ve painted in Provence, Alsace, Burgundy, Bordeaux and, of course, Paris. I never tire of the French Landscape. Carrie hope to share the impressions and feelings she enjoyed in these locations with viewers.
