Françoise Bres-Gude
After majoring in American History and Literature at the University of Lyon with a career as an English teacher in mind, Françoise actually wound up teaching French in Paris instead. She taught business students and foreigners from all over the world. When she came to live in Denver with her American husband and 2-year-old daughter, she naturally went to the Alliance Française and was hired right away. That was almost 16 years ago and she considers herself lucky to be doing something she enjoys so much. Whether she teaches advanced classes or complete beginners, her focus is on encouraging the students to converse in French. Having fun is also a priority. Her other interests include oil painting and leading group tours in France for American artists every summer.

Jean-Claude Hounou
Of Togolese parentage, Jean-Claude was born in Congo (Brazzaville) where he spent his childhood. Before arriving in the U.S in 2003, Jean-Claude spent fourteen years as a language professor at a high school in Togo. With a degree in Liberal Arts and psycho-pedagogie from the University of Lomé in Togo, he also worked as a translator/interpreter. Having stumbled accidentally upon teaching, he came to love the craft and now wishes to make a career of it. Certainly befitting of a “child of the Continent,” Jean-Claude speaks several African languages (lingala, mina, & ewe). In a class that he recently taught on African Literature Jean-Claude was given the opportunity to “bring Africa to life” for his students at the Alliance. His reaction: “Quelle belle experience !”

She tied the knot in Paris with her husband, an American, in January 2004, and then arrived in Denver four months later. Soon after moving to the States, Sabine taught French while working as an au-pair in Breckenridge. She likes mountain hikes, skiing, and aerobics. She also loves sharing her culture with students. Lise Roussin
Lise is Québécoise and has lived in Boulder for nearly 6 years. She is married, has three children, and has now taught at the Alliance Française for 4 years. In Quebec City, she and her husband offered cooking classes on “all-natural cuisine.” In Colorado, she primarily enjoys skiing, hiking, reading and playing piano. She also takes great pleasure in spending time with her family. She was forced to put aside several activities due to the bewildering rhythm of having a family, but she plans to take them back up in a few years. Her thoughts on working for the Alliance Francaise: “I love teaching here; the quality of our students is unsurpassable. Teaching—it’s my calling.”

Nathalie Talarico
Nathalie was only four when her parents left Paris and moved to the South of France, and that is where she spent most of her French life. She has lived in the United States a total of 8 years, split by 7 years in England. Nathalie loves the US and more specifically Colorado, where she and her husband have finally decided to establish themselves. Her husband is a Colorado native and they have two daughters who are the focus of Nathalie's life. Nathalie believes that having lived abroad and having learned a foreign language gives her the ability to put herself in her students' shoes and help them feel more confident in speaking the French language. Nathalie always tries her best to put everyone at ease and create a relaxed atmosphere in the classroom. Teaching at the Alliance Française has been a wonderful experience for Nathalie and she most enjoys meeting new people with whom she shares, at least but not exclusively, the love of the French language.
