This course is designed for students who have completed French B1.3 (303) or who have studied French for a minimum of 300 hours. After
having successfully completed French B1.3, you will be able to express goals and desires, talk about the weather, converse about your
travels, make a structured presentation, and use the subjunctive! Diverse topics of conversation about French and Francophone
societies and cultures will be covered.
REQUIRED TEXTBOOKS: Cosmopolite 3 (textbook and workbook). This class covers Dossiers 7 and 8.

This class is for students who have completed A1.1 (101) or who are false beginners. The emphasis in French A1.2 (102) is on basic conversational skills. After having successfully completed French A1.2, you will be able to ask and answer questions, such as “Where are you from?” “Where do you live?” “What do you like to do on weekends?” You will be able to describe people and places, and explain basic hopes and opinions.
REQUIRED TEXTBOOKS: Saison 1 (textbook and workbook), which will be used in each class of the A1 level (A1.1, A1.2, A1.3, and A1.4). In A1.2, Units 3 and 4 will be covered in Saison 1.

This class is designed for students who have completed A1.2 or who have had two semesters of French. After having successfully completed
French A1.3, you will be able to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and phrases aimed at asking for directions, talk about
your hobbies and interests, and give orders. You will also be able to tell a story with the use of past tenses.
REQUIRED TEXTBOOKS: Saison 1 (textbook and workbook), which will be used in each class of the A1 level (A1.1, A1.2, A1.3, and
A1.4).
In this course, you will cover Units 5, 6 and 7 in Saison 1.

for A2.1.

This class is designed for students at the B2 Upper Intermediate level or higher or for students who have taken more than 650 hours of French.
In this class, students will participate in enticing conversations about current events and culture pertaining to the French speaking world (France, Belgium, West Africa, etc.). Based on news videos and podcasts, they will engage in class discussions and defend their opinions. Additionally, they will learn new idiomatic expressions, proverbs, as well as a plethora of linguistic subtleties.
Class taught entirely in French.

This course is designed for students who have completed French A1.4 (104) or who have studied French for a minimum of 100 hours. After
having successfully completed French A2.1 (201), you will be able to speak in detail about your personal, academic and professional
experiences, tell stories using past tenses, express what the point of something is, and express value judgments. Various topics of
conversation and culture will be covered.
REQUIRED TEXTBOOKS: Cosmopolite 2 (textbook and workbook), which will be used in each class of the A2 series (A2.1, A2.2,
A2.3, and A2.4). In this course, Dossiers 1 and 2 will be covered.

After having successfully completed French B2.4, you will be able to converse and write about a wide range of subjects pertaining to current affairs or culture; you will be able to communicate with a greater degree of fluency and spontaneity; you will be able to understand the fundamental idea of a complex text or a technical piece related to your field; you will be able to produce detailed writing on a wide range of topics; you will be able to explain your point of view on a current issue by giving advantages and disadvantages.

The emphasis in French A1.2 is on basic conversational skills. completed French A2.3 (203), you will be able to talk about education, travel and music. You will also be able to express cause and effect,
describe subtle impressions and aspirations. Grammar points will include complex sentences, as well as the present continuous and the
subjunctive. Diverse aspects of life in France will be discussed.

This class will also emphasize developping argumentative skills. .
In this course, you will cover Dossiers 5 and 6 in the Cosmopolite 4 textbooks

This class will also work on writing argumentative essays.

This class is an altered version of our C1.1 Foundation class. It will meet once a week for 2 hours (instead of 2 and 1/2 hours). One hour will be devoted to what we normally do in C1.1 (see below); the second hour will focus on sharing literary, cultural, scientific (etc.) material drawn from sources outside the textbook. Unless students have a written assignment due that day, they will be strongly encouraged to do a 5-7 minute presentation on the material they wish to share. Only one student is expected to intervene per class-meeting, so we can delve into and discuss the shared material of his / her choice.
Please note: we will cover only one chapter of Cosmopolite 5 (instead of 2). We will cover Dossier 2.

Objectives of our regualr C1.1 Foundation class:
Develop your ability to express yourself fluently and spontaneously. Strengthen and broaden your vocabulary; gain the ability to choose the
appropriate expressions when introducing comments and expressing ideas; learn to produce clear, well-structured discourse. The objective at
the C1 level is to become an independent user of the French language.
In this class, oral and written expression occur through activities and tasks achieved individually or collectively. C1.1 will cover chapters 1 and 2 of Cosmopolite 5. In each chapter, the themes and issues discussed (through literature, the arts, cinema, customs and traditions) will enrich your knowledge of French and Francophone cultures.

Complete French the A1.2 (102) in only 6 weeks (versus 11 weeks). This class meets once a week for 3 hours and entails 2 hours of homework per week. The emphasis in French A1.2 is on basic conversational skills. French A1.1 (101) is for complete beginners, i.e., students who never had French before. The emphasis in this class is on very basic conversational skills. After having successfully completed French A1.1, you will be able to introduce yourself and others, answer basic questions regarding your life, and express personal likes and dislikes. You will also have learned the French alphabet, numbers and basic vocabulary.
