In this class, we will watch and discuss 3 classic French and Francophone movies of various genres. Students will sharpen their listening and speaking skills as we analyze and discuss the genre, themes, and cinematography of each movie. They will acquire new idioms and expand their ability to hold complex discussions in the target language. They will also write their own movie review, which will be shared with the class. Additionally, they will become familiar with AlloCine, the French equivalent to Rotten Tomato.This class will be taught entirely in French.
Students will select 3 films among the following: Les Intouchables (2012), Les Femmes du sixième étage (2011), Les émotifs anonymes (2011), La vie en rose (2007), Molière (2007), Les Choristes (2004), Inchala Dimanche (2002), and La rue Cases-Nègres (1983).
Logistics: Many of these films are on Netflix. Students will need to have the ability to watch films at home. Suitable for students at the A2 level and above.
