Overture – Regaining a Lost Capability


Join us for an engaging Café Scientifique with Chandler Clifton, Propulsion Engineer at Boom Supersonic.
 
In partnership with SCFD, Scientific & Cultural Facilities District, and la French Tech Denver

EN: A local aerospace startup, Boom Supersonic, is bringing back supersonic commercial transportation. Having recently built and flown the first private supersonic demonstrator airplane, the company is simultaneously developing Overture, the first supersonic airliner since Concorde, and Symphony, the engine that will power Overture. This presentation will describe these forthcoming inventions, the challenges that lay ahead, and why Overture is not merely a modern version of Concorde. 

FR: Boom Supersonic, une start-up aérospatiale locale, relance le transport commercial supersonique. Elle a récemment construit et fait voler le premier avion supersonique de démonstration issu d’une entreprise privée. Boom développe en ce moment simultanément Overture, le premier avion de ligne supersonique depuis le Concorde, et Symphony, le moteur qui propulsera Overture. Cette présentation décrira ces inventions à venir, les défis à relever et expliquera pourquoi Overture n'est pas une simple version moderne du Concorde.

Chandler Clifton

Propulsion Engineer

Chandler Clifton has been a Propulsion engineer at Boom Supersonic for 8 years, where he acts as designer, analyst, and test engineer. Before working on commercial aircraft, he spent over a decade designing propulsion systems for military aircraft.  His education includes a M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. 

Chandler Clifton est ingénieur en propulsion chez Boom Supersonic depuis 8 ans, où il occupe les fonctions de concepteur, d'analyste et d'ingénieur d'essais. Avant de travailler sur des avions commerciaux, il a passé plus de dix ans à concevoir des systèmes de propulsion pour des avions militaires. Il est titulaire d'une maîtrise en génie aérospatial de l'Université George Washington à Washington, D.C.
