Come meet former CPR Classical Host, Charley Samson! See what he’s been up to lately and learn more about his career with CPR and other experiences.
Since his retirement from classical radio, Charley Samson has been hosting river cruises in Europe. On June 13th at 6:00pm, he’ll talk about his radio career and his most recent trip to Paris and Normandy, which included a visit to composer Erik Satie’s birthplace in Honfleur. For 19 years Samson was an announcer at KVOD, a commercial classical station. There he produced a 221-part series called “Köchel Kapers,” a chronological survey of all of Mozart’s music. He then worked for 24 years at Colorado Public Radio, where he hosted “Colorado Spotlight,” a daily program devoted to Colorado performers. He has written program notes for the Colorado Symphony, the Oakland Symphony Orchestra, the Louisville Orchestra, the Phoenix Symphony and others. In 2016 he was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers of Colorado Hall of Fame.
