First Friday with Farhad Vakilitabar
December 7 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
JOIN US FOR FIRST FRIDAY TO WELCOME OUR NEWEST ARTIST, FARHAD VAKILITABAR. A RECEPTION WILL TAKE PLACE FROM 6:00PM – 8:00PM AND HIS EXHIBIT ‘DIFFERENCE TIMES, DIFFERENT PLACES’ WILL BE IN THE AFD GALLERY UNTIL THE END OF DECEMBER.
A word from the artist: There is a saying in Farsi which claims that “the sky is the same wherever you go”but I realized through my travels that it is not entirely true. While, I found noticeable variations in lands, terrains, I also found them in the architecture that dominates our skies! Here, in this exhibit, you will see pieces of my work from some different parts of the world… from the Caribbean Island of Guadeloupe to the West Lake of Hangzhou in China, from cities of France to different places in Iran, and from Spain to the United States. These images are taken in different years, some are older and some are more recent, but what you may find common in most of them, is the use of the unique style of Double Exposure (superimposed images done inside camera)! I hope you enjoy this world journey through my eyes that sees the beautiful variance in our skies. -Farhad VakiliTabar
Artist Biography: Farhad VakiliTabar was born in Iran. He moved to United States when he was 19 years old. He studied Science and received degrees in engineering and meteorology. But his passion for art made him pursue photography by taking various classes in this field. Years of practice and a desire to produce a unique and visionary style, have made Farhad create an important body of work for the last twenty five years in the rare style of Double Exposure within the camera on 35 mm film, and recently within his digital camera. Farhad met his French wife in Denver, while working at the University of Colorado. They now have a son and a Chinese daughter. This family situation (four nationalities within their family of four), and working with the diverse groups of students, staff and faculty, as well as his extensive traveling across the world, have given Farhad a unique and multicultural perspective that appears in his series of work. Farhad VakiliTabar has exhibited his travel images from Iran, China, France, Spain, Caribbean across the Denver Metro area. His other series such as the doors, flowers & gardens, architectural and portraits were also shown at the art galleries and the juried shows across through recent years.
