The Alliance Française de Denver offers more than just language classes, we host many cultural events and programs throughout the year. Whether you are a student, a member, or a newcomer all are welcome to participate and experience a the culture of France and Francophone countires through our cafés, book clubs, screening, lectures, exhibitions, workshops, lectures, discussion groups, and special events.

First Friday with Nijole Rasmussen

The Alliance Française de Denver presents "Stillness Identity" by Nijole Rasmussen begining March 1st, 2019 through April 20th, 2019. Join us on your First Friday Art Walk from 6-8pm to view Nijole Rasmussen's paintings.


Nijolė Rasmussen was born and raised in Lithuania. Since 1992 she has lived in Denver, Colorado, USA. The journey through life has taken her to photography, and eventually to painting, which has been her passion for the last 7 years. With some guidance from professional artists, she is mainly self-taught and derives her inspiration from nature, travels, and love of art. She loves to read and does so in several languages, and enjoys writing poetry. Nijolė has had many exhibitions in Denver and one solo exhibition in Chicago. Her art also is represented by art gallery in Lisbon, Portugal. [...]

Join the Alliance Francaise de Denver as we welcome Pierre-Yves ROUX from the Centre International d'Etudes Pedagogiques (France) for an exceptional professional development training session dedicated to "Integrating Contemporary French and Francophone Culture in the Classroom".
This 6-hour training sessions wil take place at AFD from 3:00Pm to 9:00PM (including a working dinner) and will give access to PD credit from Adams State University.

Join us for a special Café des Arts with French graffiti artist Da Cruz, wehre he will discuss his work, techniue, his story and that of street art in France. Da Cruz will be visiting and in residence at the Alliance Française de Denver from March 18th through March 24th, 2019. During his residency Da Cruz will create graffiti murals at the Alliance Française as well as along the Cherry Creek bike path in downtown Denver.

J'adore Ciné Club: "Félicité" - 3/27/19

Join us for our monthly J’Adore Ciné Club in partnership with the Denver Film Society. J’Adore Ciné Club is held at the SIE Film Center the final Wednesday of each month. Come meet other AFD & DFS members interested in French and Francophone films. 

Stay after the show to discuss the film with other cinéphiles. Iana Dontcheva, filmmaker, producer and film scholar, will be presenting the film and will facilitate a Q&A session following the screenings. 

Purchase your tickets directly at denverfilm.org  Screenings begin at either 7 or 7:15pm, please see each month’s listing for details. 

AFD Members receive discounted tickets for all J’Adore Ciné Club screenings.

She has presented around the globe at conferences, universities & in media as a lifestyle expert focused on entrepreneurship, marketing, branding & cross-cultural excellence. She developed university curricula for multiculturalism in the 21st century.

She uses her global, multi-cultural background, academic training, and career experience in media, management and business to position the history-making publication, CULTURS, as the first-ever digital-first print publication & product marketplace of its kind - one that addresses global and mobile cultural identities, with emphasis on hidden diversity.

Join us for a new installment of our Café des Arts lecture series. Revolutions and protests are deeply rooted in the French history, the Gilets Jaunes movement can be seen as another example of this long "tradition"... With this lecture, Fred Pichon will present a historical perspective on the artisitc representations of this "tradition".

This presentation will be in English but questions in French are of course welcome. A Q&A session will be held after the presentation.

Jacqueline Berkman-Glatigny was born into a large artistic family where most of its members are involved with some creative talent. The family philosophy is, "to work with your head is not enough, you must be able to work and create with your hands". Since her childhood she has always been in or part of a creative process, drawing, painting, woodworking, sculpture, assemblage, making jewelry and sewing. Born in France, she taught in Belgium, Switzerland and later in the US. Jacqueline currently resides in Colorado where she continues to give free rein to her creativity.[...]
