Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases deemed essentials for basic needs. Can introduce him/herself and
others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, people he/she knows and things he/she has.
Can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.
Can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family
information, shopping, local geography, employment). Can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of
information on familiar and routine matters. Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters

Can produce clear, detailed texts on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognise implicit meaning. Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Generally, 5 or 6-week cultural course on literature, art, cinema, fashion, culinary, music, or history. Taught entirely in French, students are immersed in a cultural experience.

Les “casse-croutes” de l’Alliance Francaise de Denver – Special Lunch Time Conversation Program BYOCC! (Bring Your Own Casse-Croûte !) From the literal translation to “break the crust” (as in breaking bread), the Casse-Croûte is a light meal shared between friends, colleagues, and family; a French version of a brown-bag lunch. Join us for a lively conversation based on current events/a magazine article/news, etc. related to your level of French. Conversations will be facilitated by the teacher who will prepare something different for each session. No textbook needed for this class.

and the unconventional activities in each arrondissement.
This class is for A2-B1 level students.
This course is designed for students who have completed French B1.1 (301) or who have studied French for a minimum of 200 hours. After
having successfully completed French B1.2, you will be able to express goals and desires, talk about the weather, defend your opinion, and
start using the subjunctive! Diverse topics of conversation and culture revolving around day-to-day life and France and the
Francophone world will be discussed.
REQUIRED TEXTBOOKS: Cosmopolite 3 (textbook and workbook), which will be used in each class of the B1 level (B1.1,
B1.2, B1.3, and B1.4). In this class, Dossier 3 and Dossier 4 will be covered.

French B1.4 This course is designed for students who have completed French B1.3. After having successfully completed French B1.4, you will be able to understand TV shows and podcasts, explain scientific discoveries, express doubt and uncertainty, and express pros and cons. In grammar, you will learn how to use double pronouns, review superlatives and the use of the infinitive.
REQUIRED TEXTBOOKS: Cosmopolite 3 (textbook and workbook), which will be used in each class of the B1 level (B1.1, B1.2, B1.3, and B1.4). In this class, Dossier 7 and Dossier 8 will be covered.

In this class, students will participate in enticing conversations about current events and culture pertaining to the French speaking world (France, Belgium, West Africa, etc.). Based on news videos and podcasts, they will engage in class discussions and defend their opinions. Additionally, they will learn new idiomatic expressions, proverbs, as well as a plethora of linguistic subtleties.
This class is taught entirely in French.
This course is designed for students who have completed French B1.4 (304) or who have studied French for a minimum of 300 hours. After having successfully completed French B2.1, you will be ready to continue exploring advanced aspects the French language. You will be able to converse and write about a wide range of topics, such as music and films or current affairs. You will be able defend your standpoints with supportive arguments. This class will also work on writing argumentative essays.
REQUIRED TEXTBOOKS: Cosmopolite 4 (textbook and workbook). In this course, you will cover Dossiers 1 and 2. The same
textbooks will be used in B2.2, B2.3, and B2.4.

Each week, the instructor selects different themes, drawn from newspaper or magazine articles, podcasts, excerpts from literary texts, French movie clips, etc. Exchange of ideas is highly encouraged and fun. Emphasis on pronunciation and grammar is made when necessary.
