A1 Beginner

A1 Review

Foundation
This class is designed for students who have completed A1.3 or higher (the equivalent of approximately 80 hours of French study). It is ideal for those looking to brush-up after a break from French, or wanting support before moving up a level.

A1 review will cover foundational topics in elementary French. This includes gender of nouns, present tense of major irregular verbs, passé composé and imparfait, and futur simple. Students will practice speaking on basic topics familiar to them, reading documents at an A1 or low-A2 level, and listening to documents based on basic, everyday conversations.

A2 Upper Beginner

A2 Review

Foundation
This course is for people who have finished A2.3, or approximately 200 hours of French study. It is ideal for someone looking to brush up after a break from French or wanting support before moving to the next level. 

In A2 review, students will examine major topics of A2 language. This includes a lengthier discussion on passé composé and imparfait and appropriate tense shifting within a narrative. Students will also work on improving variety in their descriptive language using adverbs, prepositions, object and relative pronouns, and more.

B1 Intermediate

B1/B2 Review

Foundation
This class is for students who have completed B1.4 (approximately 300 hours of French study). This is an advanced level class, and is recommended for students with a significant French background, that they perhaps haven't used in some time (previously lived in France, French major/minor, etc.)

In this class, students will review B1 and B2 level topics, based on the interests and needs of the students in the class. This can include (but is not limited to) use of the conditional and subjunctive modes, effective use of passive voice, hypothetical phrases with "si", demonstrative pronouns, and indirect speech. Students will practice speaking and writing in the contexts of both everyday life and of more complex themes, such as current events, using written and audio documents.

B2 Upper Intermediate

This in-person class is designed for students at the B2 Upper Intermediate level or higher or for students who have taken more than 500 hours of French.

In this class, students will participate in enticing conversations about current events and culture pertaining to the French speaking world (France, Belgium, West Africa, etc.).  Based on news videos and podcasts, they will engage in class discussions and defend their opinions.  Additionally, they will learn new idiomatic expressions, proverbs, as well as a plethora of linguistic subtleties.  

This class is taught entirely in French. 


Pace: 2.5 over 6 weeks
C1 Advanced

B2++: Le français dans le monde actuel

This in-person class is designed for students at the B2 Upper Intermediate level or higher or for students who have taken more than 500 hours of French.

In this class, students will participate in enticing conversations about current events and culture pertaining to the French speaking world (France, Belgium, West Africa, etc.).  Based on news videos and podcasts, they will engage in class discussions and defend their opinions.  Additionally, they will learn new idiomatic expressions, proverbs, as well as a plethora of linguistic subtleties.  

This class is taught entirely in French. 


Pace: 2.5 over 6 weeks

C1+ Review

This is an advanced review course for students with approximately 500 or more hours of experience learning French. Students should be capable of speaking with some confidence on a variety of topics, in French.

In this class, students will practice confident and fluid language, in the context of complex topics such as controversial current issues (effects of AI, what subjects should be taught in schools, pollution, etc.). Some grammar topics will be planned in advance, but grammar will be reviewed as issues arise with students in the context of improving flow and clarity.
