By registering for a class, students acknowledge and agree with the the AFD school policies as stated on this website.
Registrations will be accepted in the order received. Course fees must be paid in full before students attend the first class. A student will not be considered registered for a course until full payment has been made.
The course will be declared FULL when payment for a maximum of twelve (12) registrations (or less when advertised) has been received. If the class has reached its maximum, you may add your name on the waiting list and the AFD reception will contact you if an availability opens. Please note that a minimum of three (3) registrations is required to open a course. A minimum of 5 students is required to run a class for the full session. If this minimum is not met, the Alliance Française reserves the right to reduce the number of hours and/or classes or cancel the class (see “Class Size” below). In the event that a course is cancelled by AFD because of an insufficient number of students, students will be offered other options, including registering for a different course.
For course-level placement purposes, non-beginner students who have not previously studied at the Alliance Française must be evaluated by Alliance Française staff before registering for a course. A placement test is to be taken by going to our website at the following: https://www.afdenver.org/learn-french/placement-test/. If needed, an oral assessment can be scheduled to ascertain the level.
Students must go to the class they are enrolled in and may not attend one or several classes of a different section of the same or of a different level at any time.
AF Denver reserves the right to deny/cancel a registration for any reason. The student is required to abide by the Code of Conduct of the Alliance Française of Denver. If he/she/they fail to follow those rules of conduct, the student may be refused access to the class upon thorough investigation of the incident.
If fewer than 5 students enroll in a course, the course may be subject to reduction in total hours as follows:
The Alliance Française reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient registration. Course fees already paid for a cancelled class will be refunded based on the original method of payment or credit will be issued if indicated. This credit is valid for one year starting from the date it is processed.
Membership in the Alliance Française is required to register for Alliance Française courses. The non-refundable membership fee is valid for 12 full months. Membership privileges include, in addition to eligibility to participate in our French language instruction program, borrowing rights to our library (French books and videos), free access to the Culturethèque (online French library), free or discounted admission to various cultural and leisure activities, and discounts on goods and services from various companies and local organizations with whom we have active partnerships.
Courses are purchased online through our website (afdenver.org) or by calling the reception of AFD. Payment can be made using a credit card (all forms accepted) or by check (the administration reserves the rights to refuse a check).
No installment plan will be accepted.
A 10% early registration discount is available to students who register for an 11-week class for adults during the 10-day "Early Bird" period. It excludes courses for children and youth.
A 15% student discount is available to college students for 11-week courses. A current student ID is required at the time of registration.
To withdraw from a course, students must contact and receive confirmation from the reception desk. Refunds/Credits for withdrawn classes are given according to our refund policy, based on the type of course.
Courses are confirmed by email no later than (5) five days before a course session begins. If a student cancels prior to the course confirmation, they are eligible for a refund of course fees only (not membership), less a $50 administrative fee. If a student cancels a class after the course is confirmed (5-7 days before the session begins), they may receive credit of course fees only. Membership fees are not refundable. The return and refund of purchased course materials done through a 3-party vendor is the responsibility of the student. If credit is given, it is valid for one year from the date the credit is issued. Once the credit expires, it is no longer valid. Please call us to implement the use of credit for a future class.
Students who withdraw after this (5) five-day period, but before the end of the second week of an 11-week course session will receive partial tuition credit, based on the number of classes that has passed (prorating rate based on the course rate). Withdrawals up to the day before the second class will subtract the cost of the first class from the credit. Withdrawals between the second and third class will subtract the cost of the first two classes from the credit. NO CREDIT OR REFUND WILL BE ISSUED AFTER THE SECOND WEEK OF 11-WEEK CLASSES.
If credit is given, it will last for one year from the date of issue. After the year expires, the credit is no longer valid. Please call us to implement use of credit for a future class.

Course material is purchased through Klett World Languages (KWL). Visit our textbook info page to order: https://www.afdenver.org/learn-french/textbooks/. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that the correct books are purchased. If you are unsure, please contact Alliance Française Denver Front Desk for help. Any return needs to be addressed with KWL, which has its own return policy, separate from AFD. You may review their policy on the ordering landing page. WE RECOMMEND YOU WAIT TO PURCHASE THE COURSE MATERIAL UNTIL THE CLASS IS CONFIRMED.
