Laurent Meijer

Former CNRS Unit Director and Founder of start-up Perha Pharmaceuticals

After a thesis at the University of Lille, a post-doc at the Hopkins Marine Station (Stanford University), 32 years at the CNRS, including sabbaticals at the University of Washington, Seattle and the Rockefeller University, New York, I founded two startup biotechs, ManRos Therapeutics, followed by Perha Pharmaceuticals. Our laboratory, located in Roscoff (Finistère, Brittany), is focused on the development of drug candidates to treats disorders associated with Down syndrome, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinsons's disease and several specific cancers. Our most advanced drug, Leucettinib-21 (inspired from a marine sponge natural product) is currently a phase 1 clinical trial in healthy volunteers.

Après une thèse à l'Université de Lille, un post-doctorat à la Hopkins Marine Station (Université de Stanford), et 32 ​​ans au CNRS, incluant des années sabbatiques à l'Université de Washington à Seattle et à l'Université Rockefeller, New York, j'ai fondé deux start-ups de biotechnologie : ManRos Therapeutics, puis Perha Pharmaceuticals. Notre laboratoire, situé à Roscoff (Finistère, Bretagne), se consacre au développement de candidats médicaments pour traiter les troubles associés au syndrome de Down, à la maladie d'Alzheimer, à la maladie de Parkinson et à certains cancers. Notre médicament le plus avancé, la Leucettinib-21 (inspiré d'un produit naturel d'éponge marine), fait actuellement l'objet d'un essai clinique de phase 1 chez des volontaires sains.
