Hot Club of Olde Town
Gypsy jazz quartet
This festive formation is focused on the repertoire of the legendary Django Reinhardt (1910-1953), a towering figure in guitar and jazz history. Together with violinist Stephane Grapelli, Reinhardt created a singular musical genre at the intersection of traditional music from the Roma people and American swing music, that is commonly called Gypsy Jazz or Jazz Manouche.
Performed with acoustic instruments, this swing music is upbeat and exhilarating. The quartet is composed of prominent musicians from the Denver jazz / gypsy jazz scene: Michael Isabel and Nicolas Busquet on guitars, Florin Alexandrescu on accordion, Gary Sloan on upright bass.
Les Catherines
Multicultural acoustic trio
Les Catherines are a trio blending the warm sounds of acoustic instruments with a rich mix of languages (English, French, Spanish, and more). Their eclectic style, inspired by world music and soulful interpretations, creates a captivating, multicultural listening experience. Each performance is an invitation to travel across languages, emotions, and musical traditions.
Julien Xuereb
Guitarist, singer, songwriter & composer
Julien Xuereb is a French guitarist, singer, songwriter, and composer whose musical journey spans classical training, community outreach, and personal reinvention. A graduate of the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, he earned his Master of Music in Guitar Performance and earned recognition for founding Peabody's acclaimed Musician-in-Residence program at senior living communities, later expanded with a Dean's Incentive Grant.
In 2017, a dystonia diagnosis forced him to step away from classical guitar, leading him to develop his voice and broaden his songwriting. He has since released two albums, Introspection (2015) and Musical Vibes (2023), along with two recent singles in French and English. Now fully recovered, he has returned to classical performance.
His work has been featured by PBS, The Baltimore Sun, and WBAL-TV, and he has performed at the TEDx MidAtlantic Conference. He currently lives in Washington, DC, where he works as a freelance musician and runs his own music school, Capitol Harmony, in Georgetown.
