Test de Connaissance de Français: TCF

TCF at AFDenver

The TCF exams assess your level of French proficiency, with results valid for two years. Unlike the DELF/DALF exams, you are assigned a level based on your score.

AF Denver currently offers three TCF exam options. Please note that we are limited in how much guidance we can provide regarding which exam is best suited to your needs. If you are taking the TCF for a specific purpose (such as immigration or academic studies), we recommend consulting with your advisor or the relevant institution before registering.

Canada-CA

The TCF Canada (CA) exam includes four sections: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, writing, and speaking. The total exam duration is 2 hours and 47 minutes.

Tout Public-TP

The TCF TP exam includes up to four sections: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, writing, and speaking. AF Denver offers two options:

  • Full Exam (all four sections)
  • University Admission Version (formerly known as DAP), which includes all sections except speaking.

Intégration, Residence, Nationalité-IRN

The TCF IRN exam consists of four sections: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, writing, and speaking. The total exam duration is 1 hour and 45 minutes.

IMPORTANT

All test-taker must  complete the intake form accessible through the links above.  This information is used for your registration, so ensure it  matches your passport information if you are using the TCF for an official purpose.  Please note that incorrectly filling out either form can cause delays in processing your request, and your ability to take a desired test.

We would also like to inform you that the testing room is located on the second floor of the building. If you are unable to go upstairs, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can make the necessary arrangements.


TCF Dates - 2026

Important information:

  • The deadline to register for a TCF exam is 7 business days before the exam, unless otherwise noted.
  • To complete the registration process, you will need to provide payment and provide all required information.
  • There is no refund once the test is purchased. If a refund is approved for particular circumstances, a $50 administrative fee will be deducted.
  • The precise schedule will be emailed one week prior to the exam.

NOTE: We reserve the right to cancel exams and adjust the written and oral daily exam schedule based on circumstances out of our control such as examiner availability, weather-related issues, etc.
