Art & French Conversation Workshop

Workshop

This monthly online workshop offers a unique opportunity to discuss a work of art in French and to be introduced to a simple drawing technique through the creation of a personal artwork — one piece per session.

Each session will focus on a different theme, allowing participants to register for the session(s) of their choice. No prior knowledge of art history or drawing is required.

Objectives:

  • Oral production: Emphasis on speaking skills through the exchange of viewpoints about a selected artwork, guided by reflective and thought-provoking questions.
  • Written production: Short written responses to questions posed during the session.
  • Listening comprehension: Understanding basic concepts of art history and drawing techniques explained in French.
  • Community building: Creating a welcoming space within AF for art-sensitive individuals to connect, express themselves freely, and relax.

For each session, participants will be informed in advance of the materials to prepare (e.g., pencils, markers, paper) to support their artistic production.

Details:

  • Audience: Adults with a minimum French level of B1+
  • Format: Online (Zoom or similar)
  • Frequency: Once a month, e.g., every second Thursday
  • Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM (MST)
  • Group size: Limited number of participants of 8 to ensure everyone has time and space to express themselves
